Bio

Koosha Hakimi is an Iranian American musician, composer, and producer based in Los Angeles. He is known for his innovative approach to drums, piano, and narrative-driven composition. His work blends contemporary jazz with storytelling elements, reflecting both his Persian heritage and modern musical influences.

He began playing piano at the age of six and later picked up the drums in high school. At nineteen, he moved to the United States, quickly adapting and establishing himself within the local music scene.

Hakimi earned his Bachelor of Music in Jazz Drum Performance from University of California, Irvine in 2018 and is completing his graduate degree at California State University, Northridge. He has studied with internationally recognized artists including Jason Harnell, Kei Akagi, Darek Oles, Tina Raymond, and Eric Revis.

Koosha has toured and performed throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, and Europe. His collaborations span jazz and international stages, including performances with jazz artists such as Christopher Hollyday, Will Brahms, Kaveh Rastegar, and International Persian artists such as Mina Deris, Navan, Black Cats, and Siriya Ensemble.

He records and releases music under his own name and is endorsed by Canopus Drums. He is also the co-founder and musical director of Eastalgia Collective, a community-driven, music- centered platform that brings together Persian and non-Persian artists through live performances and collaborative projects.
